Val di Fassa

A Journey through History, Tradition and Nature

“Val di Fassa” is an enchanted valley surrounded by the stunning peaks of the Dolomites, bordering the provinces of Bolzano and Belluno.
It is a land rich in history, tradition and nature that offers many activities for all tastes. Ski enthusiasts can rely on the modern Dolomiti Superski ski facilities, prepared every winter to welcome guests from all over the world, who can choose from over 1,200 km of slopes. In February, the “Sella Ronda Ski Marathon” takes place in Canazei, a fascinating alpine ski race by night, followed in April by the “Pizolada delle Dolomiti” in Moena, an alpine ski race along the picturesque slopes around the San Pellegrino Pass.

Adventure seekers can soften their hearts watching the fawns and explore the wonders of the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Park, or climb the summit of the Marmolada, the queen of the Dolomites.

Val di Fassa is also the perfect destination for those in search of the traditional flavors that this land has to offer. There are many culinary proposals in characteristic restaurants and mountain refuges, in many of which you will find a nice didactic farm in contact with Alps life.

Wellness lovers can indulge in moments of pure relaxation in our year-round Aquarena Wellness Centre or explore the thermal centres in the surrounding area.

For fans of Ladin culture, the numerous events, museums, churches, castles and villages in the valley, steeped in tradition, will amaze even the most curious. Some of the most important events include in June the local "Sagra de Sen Vile", the festival of St. Vigil, the Patron Saint of Moena, an event that combines tradition, food and lots of music; between July and August the "Suoni delle Dolomiti", an evocative encounter between art music and the spirit of the mountains, and the "Te anter i tobiè" festival, a re-enactment of Ladin traditions in Canazei. In September there is the "Desmontegada", a traditional end-of-summer festival celebrating the return of the cattle from the high mountain pastures, and the "Festa del Puzzone di Moena", a get-together with tastings, children's activities and lots of animals. Last but not least, in December don't miss the encounter with the terrifying Krampus, dark and mysterious creatures that emerge from the depths of the forests during the night of St. Nicholas.

The valley is characterised by seven lovely villages: Moena, Soraga, Vigo di Fassa, Pozza di Fassa, Mazzin, Campitello di Fassa and Canazei, each with its own features ready to welcome you with arms wide open!
